GNUitar now has its own site - www.gnuitar.com !!!

Wed 06 Apr 2005 23:38:09

The next version of Gnuitar - 0.3.2 is coming soon. Despite the previous message, I decided to make the program binaries free. IMO requesting money for this makes no sense. In the new version the distort2 reworked - great thanks to Eugen Bogdan aka /Dexterus <dexterus at hackernetwork dot com> Also added the equalizer effect.

Starting from the next version of the GNUitar its business model is going to be changed. The source code remains free for downloading and (re)distribution. The license remains GPL. However, binaries (.rpm, .exe) will be distributes in exchange for a fee (quite small, around $10). According to the paragraph 1 of the GPL license: "You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee."

Furthermore, according to GPL you can (re)distribute obtained binaries without limitation, for free or in exchange for a fee at your option.

This does not affect all program versions prior (and including) 0.3.1.

We moved to a new location. My old college account was closed, so I moved up to a new server.

Patch released for version 0.3.1. It fixes the compilation error. Strange, but RedHat 7.3-native gcc-2.96 does not mind about wrong params number for the strncat() function.

Hot news - GNUitar v0.2.1 released ! Release notes:

  • Change sampling params from the interface;
  • Meaningful measure units (%, ms) for every slider control;
  • New phasor option - turn on bandpass filter;
  • A lot of code cleanups;
  • Delay was fixed to reset memory on "Time" slider update;

GNUitar users - together we stand ! Let us create the users community. Communicate via forum, exchange presets, ask the questions, request the features. Major changes come - there will be soon a new distortion and noise-reduction effects. BTW this is the cool preset a la J.M.Jarre - a "cosmic sound", something like "athmosphere" in General MIDI. Use with sampling params mono/44100.

It seems that the site was moved to http://ns2.ziet.zhitomir.ua for a while. So, please use this new URL (however I know that my rating in search engines is irrecoverably lost).
There is a good news however - GNUitar 0.2.0 is released. The main new feature is its Windows port.

Hi there ! I'm Max Rudensky, a web programmer and IT-consultant. My specialization is a web-application development for e-business.

Here you can find some articles, free programs, take part in related discussions, view my portfolio. I'm glad to share my experience with those to whom it might me useful. Probably I could help you to write a script, recover the data, install the program on the server, find the error, design the database, or just answer at your question. Simply ask me, I like to communicate.

"Articles" section (it is possibly the most interesting section) is dedicated to development of the small e-business Enterprise by the merchants who do not have programming skills with the help of independent offshore programmers and IT-consultants.

Welcome !

Go ahead.
